MOD Lyneham are also looking at establishing an Independent Advisory Panel and look towards the Parish for support if anyone fits the criteria below. More to follow, however as part of our continued community relations we feel that the parish can add value in some areas of operation onsite, which might not only benefit us but also the local community in building on relations.

  • The MOD are looking at establishing an IAP (Independent Advisory Panel) to help provide an independent, non-statutory source of advice, challenge, encouragement, and support to MOD Lyneham. This is meant to provide a way to exchange information, provide feedback and assist in identifying areas for improvement. This is primarily focused on the Supervisory Care of our young people onsite, Initial Trade Training Trainees (ITTs), but where appropriate, wider training delivery outputs. The MOD recognises that there is a wealth of expertise and knowledge amongst the local populus who might wish to bring specific skills and knowledge to help adding value and feeling part of something positive.

  • The core membership of the IAP would ideally be comprised of civilians with relevant knowledge and professional experience within the realms of the military, training, education or care and welfare. The panel may include opinion-formers in the local and surrounding community, who, between them, are able to speak with knowledge, credibility, and experience on a range of issues that might relate to the operation of MOD Lyneham and the training of young people in general. A Military Liaison Officer (MLO) from within MOD Lyneham staff will facilitate visits and meetings and act as Secretary to the Panel.
